I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the
Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the
Secretary of State for the Colonies, that the rate paid by
the Admiralty for water supplied by the Colonial Water
Authority to H.M. Naval Yard, R.N. Hospital and Sanatorium,
at Hong Kong, is 25 cents per "M" gallons; the
consumption being approximately 7,000,000 gallons per
annum.

2. A report has now been forwarded by the
Commodore stating that a new Water Ordinance has been
passed which increases the price from 25 to 50 cents per
"M" gallons.

3. My Lords learn from the War Office that the
price paid by that Department for water supplied from the
Taitam and Pokfulum Reservoirs is 10 cents per "M" gallons,
and that no intimation has been received in regard to the
reported increase in the price.

4. The Naval Yard &c. are supplied from this
source, and My Lords consider that the Navy should be
granted equally favourable terms.

5. I am accordingly to ask whether the rate of
10 cents per "M" gallons can be extended to the Admiralty.
